I now see why the HDR 2000T was a fair bit cheaper!

Well, I've fitted a better quality aerial and slightly improved its positioning. Signal Strength has gone up from 49-53% to 50-73%. I turned Network Search off, manually re-tuned and this time I didn't notice any duplicated TV channels. Hopefully all the faffing about has had the desired effect of eliminating the original problem. Only time will tell as it was an intermittent problem.
