Possible to reset HDMI connection through custom firmware?

I'm one of those folks who is plagued by HDMI sync problems because I run my Hummy through an amp. Sometimes I can fix the HDMI sync problems by pressing 'v format', but very occasionally this doesn't work and the box needs rebooting - and if the box is awake because it's recording or waiting for the 'start recording' flag from the broadcaster then the only way to get HDMI to sync is to send a reboot command to the hummy through telnet/webui or kill the power.

So this has got me thinking.. Is there any way through the command line to break the HDMI connection and force it to resync? This would make life a bit more bearable until humax pull their finger out and fix the sync problem which I have never had with any other equipment apart from this!!!
