Yes you are correct. My amp was part of a system which included separate components, CD player,twin tape, tuner and turntable. This has been whittled down to just the tuner and a couple of 20 year old small Mordaunt Short speakers.
I kept the amp ( formerly attached to the TV ) because it provides a warm sound, contrary to DAB which is rubbish as discussed in another thread, plus I can connect cordless headphones for the boss to use whilst ironing elsewhere in the property! Inputs also to attach the laptop to catch up with any radio programmes missed via i-player. Also attached is a redundant DVD recorder with Freeview in order to use the digital radio stations.
Old fashioned by today's methods but still serviceable and still looks good in the kitchen.
