the signal problem came back again the week before last so i again arranged for the aerial man to pay a visit, by then the signal had returned again and he tested the signal at five stars. eventually we tracked the problem down to an old corroded junction box behind the corner cabinet, never even knew it was there, a couple snips and a new connecter on the co-ax and i now have 88-90% signal strength!
hopefully that will be the end of it all! there was just a single strand of copper wire connecting the two cables! so simple, if only i'd known it was behind there for all this time!
