Recording stuff twice

My recently-purchased Aura 4K 2Tb is doing something strange; it has a tendency to sometimes (but not always) record two instances of the same programme, which isn't exactly the end of the world, but still shouldn't happen. Anyone else seen that?

Also, I was used to accessing my previous HDR-FOX T2 and HDR-FOXSAT via a web browser on my PC; the Aura doesn't seem to have that capability. I take it there is no modified firmware available for the Aura either?

Thanks!

Examples?

Depending on how the broadcaster has setup the meta data for the programme that could be correct behaviour, or it could be incorrect.

Well, it can be anything; there doesn't appear to be any particular trigger that I've noticed, to it happening; it seems to happen about once in every ten recordings. The last time it happened was just the other day, when it recorded two each of the episodes of 'Box of Delights'. I've got used to just deleting one copy of each by now.

I see it happening very occasionally; but not enough to worry me.

Try http://192.168.xxx.xxx:8080/page/index.html where 192.168.xxx.xxx is the full IP address of your Aura. You can also use DLNA if the TV supports it, if in Settings > Record and Share you scroll down and turn on the Network Server (DLNA/UPnP) .

I have also had double recordings but nowhere near as often so have not really looked into the cause, I sometimes have the series record symbol vanish from a scheduled show on the tv guide so reschedule it and wonder if that could be the cause for a double recording.

That IP address worked, although it seems to be a very basic control panel; I'll have a look at it though - thanks!
It is very basic interface and I suspect that is why it isn't documented but it does have quite a lot of functionality. How were you playing recordings via web browser on an HDR-FOX T2?

I wasn't playing recordings via web interface, just setting up and maintaining the box, setting recordings etc.

You click on the recording title and on the Media Details dialog that comes up you click Play. Then, assuming you have something installed that understands .m3u files, it plays the recording.

My HDR-Fox-T2 will sometimes duplicate the last episode of a series, especially where the series has an alternative screening. But I take it that is not what you are getting, I take it you are getting full series recordings of both the first and second screenings

No the Aura will sometimes make 2 recordings of the same screening at the same time.

Sometimes I've had two identical recordings at the same time. Occasionally this has been after using the app, where if the connection is a bit flakey and if an existing schedule doesn't show up then I set it. Other times it has happened for no apparent reason.

The only time I have had duplicate recordings is when setting schedules via the app, but I haven't seen that happen in a long time and I use the app quite a bit.

Just for the record, I have never had the app, I cannot even get it from the app store as it wrongly keeps saying it was made for an older version than my Android 13 phone.

I too have the duplicate instances of the same episode, at the same broadcast time, on the same channel.
It coincided with me 'saving the settings & scheduled recordings', tuning in the updated channel lists on a few COM Muxes, then re-importing the saved settings again.

Does that mean two tuners are used to record, or does it just use one?

I don't have any mobile phone app installed either.

I get this as well. I don't have the app, the recordings were just scheduled from the guide.
Once the duplicate was recorded an hour later on a +1 channel. I hadn't been saving settings or updating channel lists.

That might be explained if the Aura (thought it) detected a glitch in the original recording, and automatically rescheduled. I can't rationalise why it might make two recordings of the same broadcast though, that seems just daft (ie poor software).

Just one, but it counts as two recordings so only two left. As I pointed out on the other site https://myhumax.org/forum/topic/cant-record-more-than-2-programs#post-103106 you can record 4 channels from the same multiplex. Uses one tuner. You can still watch any channel but cannot record them. Uses a maximum of 2 tuners. The third remains idle.
then re-importing the saved settings again
That will explain it. Importing does that. You'd need to remove all recordings before importing. Also, if you've set a recording for a channel that's moved and you import the old data there's going to be some confusion. Tedious though it is, making a note (photo or pen & paper) and re entering them manually avoids this.
