[Redring] not red when recording or blue when not recording.

Every so often I'm finding that I look at the ring while I am recording and it is blue. At other times it shows I am recording (its red) when it has finished recording. Each time I check webif and it shows the correct state. Anyone else getting this?

I had an instance of recording in standby with a Blue ring just a few days ago, but it has been OK since.

I'm recording I'm a celebrity, the REC icon is on the display but the ring is blue. Webif says I am recording so does the Hummy. We are watching it too, live.

It might be worth setting debug = on in the Redring settings page and then monitoring the Web-If >> Diagnostics >> View log files >> redring.log this will tell you what is happening and what colour the 'ring' should be. Note, it is quite a long file with lots of repeated lines but you can search for 'Changing to' Purple for example

OK have just finished recording Hunted and I'm a Celebrity. The Purple ring changed to Red but after the second programme had finished it is still RED and the REC icon is on.

This is the RR log of that section.

I get the last few lines repeated for a long time. The recordings have definitely finished. 45 minutes after the ring is still RED.

Have you made any changes to the firmware? When I have any problem with Redring it has always been following firmware updates. Diagnostic 'fix-flash-packages' usually resolves these problems until the next update.

I have suspected in the past that after an upgrade in firmware or redring version, that the existing redring 'settings' were not being picked up and that altering and then saving them, forced redring to pick them up correctly. This is only a theory but it does semm to tie-in with aciddad's findings

A perfectly good theory Ezra, but I'm afraid I haven't upgraded the firmware or redring version. However, in a previous post I asked about redring settings reverting to default values so it does seem that that redring can sometimes "forget" its settings.

I have just had another problem.
I was playing a recording that was in progress. The REC icon was on and the red ring.
When the recording stopped there was no change on the display.
I switched to standby and again no change.
I then switched on and this time the ring went blue but the REC icon is still displayed.
There are timers set but non within 15 min. FW 1.02.29, CFW 2.12
I'm not going to make any changes until after the next scheduled recording (F1, 3.00pm).

I've only just thought to check this.....redring.log has no entry since the time I pressed play.
Does that shed any light on the possible cause?

It may help to turn extra debug on e.g. Web-If >> Settings >> Redring settings >> General Settings >> Enable Debug log = ON. You should get more info. then e.g. while out of standby, pressing any Remote Button after 3 Mins. should make the display brighter, this change can be seen in the redring.log file

Snap. Thats exactly what I had.

As suggested by Ezra, I turned on Debug log and (predictably?) redring has not faulted since then, so it seems Ezra is right about forcing redring to pick up the settings again, but what causes the failing in the first place, I wonder?
