Regular crash/reboot when starting Portal

Does Portal still work? There doesn't seem to be any portal packages any more!

I can use iPlayer but 50% of the time portal crashes.

Running: crashdiag

Yes, the portal works (I used it this morning, accessing iPlayer and YouTube). It is prone to crashing if unexpected network errors occur at any time, which are obviously much more likely when the HDR-FOX is accessing the Internet. I believe the problem is that the native network code was not adequately tested against a range of error conditions.

Thanks for the reply. Bit of a shame as it is now too risky to use the portal when recording due to the risk of a crash. Never mind - I will use iPlayer on my Fire Stick that is gathering dust.

Always was - nothing has got worse in this respect. If you are suffering this more now than you have previously, check whether your local network has degraded in some way. My network reliability improved enormously when I updated the firmware in my HomePlugs.

Using the portal while the system is recording has always been a risk - I wouldn't do it (or, at least, would kick myself when it crashed).

I'd think it is probable that people are using catchup services more these days, which will increase the number of 'conflicts' without the software being any different.

The portal crashed consistently earlier today when I tried to catch up on a BBC programme. I had just established an ftp connection from my PC using file explorer instead of FileZilla. Terminating that connection fixed the problem.

Are you saying it doesn’t crash if you simultaneously access FTP with FileZilla, or that it doesn’t crash as long as you don’t use FTP at the same time at all?

It doesn’t crash if FileZilla is connected to the box but not transferring anything (I haven't tried that but I could later) but it does when File Explorer is logged in without doing any transfers.
