The only problem I foresee is that you cannot tell what they are watching etc without you being in front of the connected TV.

You can tell what they are watching, It is displayed at the top of the 'Remote Screen' or by using the command line 'status'

Yep, forgot about that. I use that myself to check I have changed to the correct channel before hitting record.
