RS: Recording what I've not Auto set. Not recording what I have.

I've checked both Standard & Advanced rules. This is the only Midsomer Murders schedule I've set:

Code:
title {Midsomer Murders} or {synopsis {Written in Blood} synopsis {Death of a Hollow Man} synopsis {Orchis Fatalis} synopsis {Death in a Chocolate Box} synopsis {Send in the Clowns} synopsis S24 synopsis S25 synopsis {The Sicilian Defence} } !channel ITV3+1 action scheduleevents

Why has it scheduled to record both 'For Death Prepare' S22 Ep5 and 'The Witches of Angel's Rise' S22 Ep6?

Given this schedule, why has it failed to notify/set to record both 'The Night Manager' and 'operation mincemeat'? It registers others just fine such as Oppenheimer.

Code:
or {title {The Asphalt Jungle} title {Flowers in the Attic} title Starcrash title {Our Kind of Traitor} title {Murder Before Evensong} title Archie title Ocean's title {"a perfect murder"} title {Black Bag} title {"Betrayal"} title {Michael Clayton} title {The Good Fight} title Bookish title {4.50 from Paddington} title Overboard title {Marble Hall Murders} title Counsels title {Murder Most Puzzling} title {Endless Night} title {Body Heat} title {V.I. Warshawski} title {"Insomnia"} title {"Network"} title {The Spy Who Came In from the Cold} synopsis {Record On: New Order} title Betrayal title {Marble Hall Murders} title {The Lost King} title Sirens title {The Night Manager} title Oppenheimer title {operation mincemeat} title {Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse} title {The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent} title {The X-Files} title {Three Days of the Condor} title {Gosford Park} title {The Long Goodbye} title {The Last of Sheila} title {The Cockfields} title {The Good Wife} }

title {Midsomer Murders} or {synopsis...
At first glance (and I'm not giving it another one!), that reads to me as "if the title is "Midsomer Murders" or if the synopsis contains any of these strings...". Therefore all MM should get set to record regardless of the synopsys text so long as it isn't on ITV3+1 (which doesn't really exist any more anyway). If you want to restrict the recording to those specific synopses you need an "and {" before the "or" (and a closing "}" of course).

Given this schedule, why has it failed to notify/set to record both 'The Night Manager' and 'operation mincemeat'? It registers others just fine such as Oppenheimer.
Don't know. Could it possibly be that "Oppenheimer" has no spaces in it? Why are you using such long rules in preference to setting an individual rule for each item? Did you construct the rule manually (therefore bypass the syntax generator) or are these the product of the syntax GUI?

For the first rule that you reported , yesterday I loaded it into my profile and clicked "Matching Events" and it did come up up with the appropriate episodes that you were expecting, and no others.
When you observed that unwanted Midsomer Murders had been scheduled, how did you reach the conclusion that this was because of the current RS configuration of that rule?

For your second posted rule, it is correct behaviour that it should not set a recording for either 'The Night Manager' or 'operation mincemeat' as it had no "action" on a hit. The posted rule will also not be the reason that an Oppenheimer recording was set. Either you are not reporting what the rule actually was when Oppenheimer was set, or the event was scheduled via something else.

It is probably too late now to analyse what went wrong, but if you have further anomalies to query, it may help if you report those in more detail.
For example, it was helpful that you included the text version of your rules, but for at least the second one it would have been very obvious that something was amiss in what happened if you had also posted a snapshot of the rule as displayed on the menu driven auto rule page. Doing that would have made it very obvious that the rule that you reported did not include an action to set a recording.

So it doesn't! I missed that (the rule is too long). Like I said, if these rules were hand-crafted rather than GUI-generated, they are very prone to error (particularly with this level of complexity).
