I was wondering if there were any plans to keep maintaining the utilities necessary for the customised firmware to work if af123 was no longer interested or other incidents occurred?

This has occurred to me too.

The usual process is for somebody to step up to the plate if it happens, but in this case some kind of orderly hand-over would be required and therefore plans in place.
