Series Link recording

hi, all. New here - sorry in advance for the technical post! .

I just have got hold of an ancient Humax Fox T2 HDR box and live in Ireland. - Got it all set up to work all good on our Irish T2 DTT service called saorview. - EPG works fine, the numbers for the irish channels are up in the 800's but that doesnt matter , and in any case I have installed Customer Firmware to the Fox T2 HDR and movven the channels (so RTE One is on 101 now) - the time in the EPG was 1hr behind because the settings in the T2 Fox had GMT+0 in the menu , but I found a secret menu where I could put GMT+1 so now the EPG is the right time now.

All I am left with really that still would be nice to have it working is I cannot get series link to work on it at all at the moment - using as and Example I try to do a series link of EastEnders - when I sect it in schedule it will only allow me to 'record whole episode' and there is nothing that says 'record whole series' .

So, here is a question if any other members know the answer is - does this Fox T2 HDR do series link fine in the UK with the Freeview DTT system? - if it does then maybe its just that our DTT network in Ireland here are not transmitting the series link data alongside their T2 saorview signal like the UK freeview does.

I think (and i am not that technically up on DTT) but i think it has been mention that the UK DTT uses UK D-Book T2 spec - whereas Saorview here in Ireland conforms to the Scandinavian Nordig DTT T2 standard (whatever that is?) is as far as I have got with my investigations.

Has anyone got any info - or can confirm that the Fox T2 HDR does indeed work with series link on the UK freeview system and whereabouts you select series link? (I presume you select it when you schedule to record from the EPG?)

Yes, the HDR-FOX most definitely works with series linking etc etc, the system depends on the necessary data being transmitted along with the programmes.

Do a forum search (top right), with search term "saorview". Start with the oldest posts.

The raw data for a UK series (ITV news) contains the following content descriptors for Crid (episode) and Scrid (series)

Series link does indeed work except when the broadcasters screw up and forget to include the scrid, change it mid-series, or do not accurately set the accurate recording programme information.

Yes, subject to no errors by the broadcaster, series link on an HDR-FOX T2 tuned to just 1 freeview transmitter (including those in NI with ROI channels) does "work".

I can't comment any further due to the severe lack of relevant info in your post (e.g.. NI or ROI transmitter). Not that it probably matters, as BH has already given you what is probably the best route for you to follow. Unless your main transmitter is a NI transmitter.
