Series record issue.

Not sure if this is just an Aura problem, I had series record set for Antique Roadshow BBC1sd ,The Great pottery Throw Down Ch4sd and Celebrity Hunted Ch4sd all on Sunday and 24 Hours in Police Custody Ch4sd today, they all recorded fine but now in Schedule all are showing as 0 programmes and when I tried to reschedule them they all only allow a singled episode option with no series record option offered.

Just done a quick test with my Aura & 5000T.
No problem setting series link for Antiques Roadshow. The Ch4 programmes for next Sunday won't series link on both devices. (Didn't check Police Custody). I have my Aura displaying the crids, and the series information appears to be missing. Similarly, my TV shows series in the EPG, but Ch4 seems to have no series! Could be a problem at Ch4. Perhaps @prpr can see the same problem in his logs

Looking on HDR FOX T2 there are NO series crids on ANY Channel 4, 4+1. 4HD programmes from Saturday 11th onwards
Other related channels E4, More 4 .... seem to be OK

A serious broadcaster error that will hopefully be fixed before the weekend but worth submitting a complaint.

Antiques Roadshow shows as series record in my schedule now so I may have be mistaken before and it may have shown as 0 episodes due to the next episode being a repeat from a previous series rather than a continuation of this weeks. Also I set series record for The Bidding Room BBC1sd , it only set to record a couple of episodes this week and one next and another schedule had to be set for the other episodes this week ( it airs Mon-Fri) all episodes show in the TV guide as repeats from 2 previous series but the episode recorded yesterday was S6E1 which is the new series as confirmed on IMDb https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11434078/ . January 7th is far too late to blame error on festive excess.

Edit. Ignore the above, I now see that for some bizarre reason BBC are showing the new series on Mon, Wed and Fri with old episodes on Tues and Thu and TV guide now showing the correct episodes.

BBC always use a new series crid with each new season of a programme unlike other broadcasters, this is especially annoying with programmes like Homes under the hammer, Bidding room, Repair shop where they mix new and repeat episode.

It is is possible for Homes UTH to have 5 different series crids in a week! It could be useful if you only want to see the New episodes but in most cases it is just a nuisance when you find your series links have stopped recording and you have missed the first episodes of the new series.

I totally agree, the BBC seems increasingly out of touch with it's viewers, the least they could do is ensure the TV guides have "New" as a prefix for a new seasons episodes.

Prolly only cares about iPlayer viewers.
Witness the annoying (to me) slide-up towards the end of some/many/most programmes, the end-credit squeeze often pointing to iPlayer, and all those "adverts" between programmes plugging the iPlayer.
Prolly? (If this is an abbreviation/slang for probably - first time I've come across it!)

Or, better(imho), would be Series (aka Season) and Episode numbers in the info part of the EPG we use to set recordings. At least then one can check when the season was first broadcast!

Other broadcasters label programmes New: when they are old repeats (C5) often enough.

Just don't get me started on the 'revised repeats / revisits' programmes broadcast either.

The BBC has been using "revised repeats" for years - especially Radio 4.

I find "New" annoying. If I look for a recording on any of my Humaxes it could be hidden in the Ns - ie New:{progname}. Most inconvenient!

Perfect example of the issue tonight at 8pm BBC1, The guide just says "The Repair Shop" but it is the first episode of the new season. At least they managed the prefix "New" for Pointless s32 e30 today.

@ Phil & Rodders an ideal solution for me would be a different colour text or font for anything getting it's first TV airing in the guide, you could then quickly spot anything new.

They often do that when the show has aired first on one of the other Ch5 spin off channels, New to the channel but not new to TV.

The original definition of the epg format was very poor - it should have defined sections for New/Repeat, Series and Epsiodse,
It shouldn't be hidden in the programmes synopsis with no standardized format

That's what newk was for, now the same function is available as a preset in sweeper.

IIRC the Chloe & Co cartoon strip.

Er, yes this is an Aura thread. None of my Humaxes (2000T,5000T and Aura) have anything resembling that/them. Could do a bog-standard search on the Aura and 5000T, but no fancy wildcard or pattern matching. Even though a simple search is possible I usually just wade through the list (time sorted). I'm lazy that way

We've got a fair way through some such labelled programmes before realising we've seen it.. and only record HD satellite / Freeview so that doesn't apply (no C5 spin offs in HD and in the clear).

Newk addon to CF fixes that for me most of the time ;)

"The" <insert rest of programme name> can be a long list of recordings, I find to be a pita, too.

NB This thread's subject of Series Link fail by Channel 4 is device agnostic... affecting all the broadcast platforms as far as I can tell. So not limited to the Aura and its foibes/failings. You opened it up to other Humax devices, yourself ;) .

It is on all devices, but this is a thread in the Aura section and references to the CF (not brought up by me) are not helpful to those of us without a Fox-T2.
