Site Slow-Down

Black Hole

May contain traces of nut
There was some kind of "event" at about 5pm, the forum was unusable when other websites were still working fine (and therefroe not my Internet connection causing it). I don't know how long the event lasted, but it's obviously OK now.

I was getting bad gateway errors. Then I managed to load the home page, eventually. Couldn't proceed further. Gave up trying around 9pm.

When the site was in 'full eclipse', I received an "504 Gateway Time-out" - from nginx (the application gateway service). It is possible that the site was being worked on, but who has access to check what happened?

I think /df was the last post at about 16:43 (I found afterwards). The site was broken (no error, just an hourglass and timeout) before 17:00 when I went out.
I think it came back around 22:30-22:45.

I was getting timeouts (with partial page loads, very slow) some time around 5.30. The 504 thing kicked in after that.

Someone forgot to put a shilling in the meter.
Modern translation: $energy_company's AI bot decided to turn your meter off remotely because some other AI bot deemed your account to be in debt, even though it wasn't and never had been. You can't call them to complain any more, as nobody answers the phone - because nobody is there. You have to create an account on some ticket system (from your battery powered digital device), wait for the email to arrive to 'validate' your email address, then login and submit a ticket (complaint), at which point some other AI bot may or may not get back to you with whatever the resolution is. If you're very lucky the first AI bot may deign to turn your meter back on. If not, you'll die in your house and not be discovered for several weeks, because you're not allowed to go out anywhere (and if you try you get a massive fine for allegedly transgressing some new 'rulez' that you didn't know about and make no sense to anyone with any) and eventually someone who just happened to pass by (probably an illegal immigrant looking to cuckoo your house) noticed the curtains hadn't move for weeks and the grass was 3 feet high. The postman didn't notice the pile of (mostly junk) mail building up as they probably put it through the wrong door in the first place.

Yesterday's one put something through my door when it was destined for 2 doors down. He was still still around when I remonstrated but just shrugged his shoulders and said "sorry mate", but didn't offer to collect it and deliver it properly, so I had to do it. It was a "photo only" tracked item too.
Today's one turned up to deliver items to a couple of neighbours, then went away, then literally 30s later appeared again and delivered another to somewhere else.
All of these were in a red van, which seems to be the standard now.

You mean you saw a postman two days in a row?
Once a week, if I'm lucky. They used to park the red van just outside and one postman loaded up with mail and began the round. The other postman drove off. Rarely see the van anymore.
