Stuttering recordings (sometimes)

Hi, just lately I've been having a few problems with my HDR. I can watch SD recordings over the net just fine, but I am having trouble watching recently recorded shows. Often, the thing will drop out every few seconds - it looks just like bad freeview reception recorded - but if I reboot the HDR, the same recording will play back perfectly. I'm running the custom firmware, so its possible I could have something running in the background. I have auto-unprotect running, but I wouldn't expect that to take very long.

Has anyone had this and fixed it? I initially suspected that the drive was on the way out or needing reformatting, but since it gets fixed by a reboot I'm not so sure. I don't record a lot, so I haven't been playing anything while another recording is going on, but chase play is working fine. It might be related to HD content, since I normally record the HD versions if possible. I suppose it could be some kind of database index or file system scan going on in the background.

Any help will be gratefully appreciated.

It's unlikely to be a problem caused by any of the custom firmware packages, although some users have stopped running the Sysmon package. I understand your saying you don't think it is a HDD problem but I would still run Fix-disk from Maintenance mode If I were you

I strongly suspect this is indeed a disk problem. Make sure you have the latest CF (2.16/1.02.32 or 2.16/1.02.20), access the Telnet menu (see Wiki HERE - click, the pass code is your Humax PIN - 0000 by default), use the menu to reboot to maintenance mode, re-access Telnet and run fix-disk.

Ok, that's all done. No errors mentioned, but the FS was modified in both instances. Fingers crossed :)

SMART data looks ok, self check completed without errors.
