A short investigation reveals that my 2000T treats the SUB button and the "global preferences" as the same (not really a global setting) except the SUB button can't turn subtitles on where there are no subtitles, but the menu approach will [even though there are no subtitles on the current channel!] . Turn subtitles off with SUB and it goes off in the "global preferences". If this is the same in a 4000T, I wouldn't see this as a fault.
