Sysmon - latest CPU Utilisation charts not available

Hi prpr and af123.

Tried both of your respective suggestions but still not showing any details for last two hours, five hours or day.

However, it is displaying a ‘Last five days’ chart, without any dates, from 09:30 (71% Total Usage) to 09:44 (92% Total Usage).

The high CPU usage may explain why the box was taking ‘ages’ to index and decrypt files for use via Foxlink and network-shares-automount.

Also, although I now have content sharing set to off, and DLNA Server Information shows the status as ‘Disabled – Not running’ I still see DLNA activity logged in auto.log.

Unless either of you (or anyone) can suggest what else I can try, I will use the ‘Remove all custom firmware packages and settings’ option and start again with a fresh install.

Thanks for all your help.

I think what af123 wants is you to post the output from 'cat /mod/.env' so that he can diagnose the actual problem. Please stick with it a little longer so that the problem can be found for the future benfit of everyone.

Thanks Martin.

Ok that looks identical to my system where CPU monitoring is working. My understanding of all the recent posts from prpr and af123 is that they are trying to gain information to understand the (very odd) problem you are having not suggestions as to how to actually fix the problem. af123 has spotted something wrong so now it is a matter of tracking down what is causing it.

Hi Martin

As far as I know, I'm the only one having this problem so if/when it is fixed anything learnt will not help anyone else.

I also don't want to waste anyone's time as if the 'taking ‘ages’ to index and decrypt files for use via Foxlink and network-shares-automount' is not fixed I may need to reinstall anyway.

Let see what happens.

The cause of vmstat not saving anything to the database is because it can't load a library. It is not clear why it can't and the error message is basically useless other than telling us "it didn't work". The path settings that tell it where to find libraries is correct. Stopping and restarting the crond daemon makes it able to load the errant library and everything then works seemingly normally. This is odd.
Unless we can get a better error message, then I think it's probably the end of the line for me. I can't speak for af123 of course, who may have further ideas.
I am curious as to what you think is taking loads of CPU time. Can you run "top" in a telnet session and post the top dozen or so lines of output?

Agree - we now why it's failing to record CPU data but not why it's behaving that way. Try this (assuming CFW 2.22)

Code:
humax# rm /mod/etc/init.d/rcS

and reboot.

Hi af123

Run 'rm /mod/etc/init.d/rcS' , rebooted and appears to be working (I said this before so early days).

Last two hours chats shows 9:29 (63% total CPU Usage) to 9.31 (30% total CPU Usage).

Is this what you would expect?

For comparison, I have just switched on HDR1 (same setup, CF etc. as HDR2) and it shows an initial CPU Usage of 56%, against 63% for HDR2.

HDR1's Auto.log is empty.

How do I deleted crond.log please?

When looking at CPU Usage either via Sysmon or 'Top', you need to dis guard 'peaks' and concentrate more on average usage. You will see peaks of CPU usage for example when the unit is first taken out of standby, but this settles (in my case) to around 20% most of the time.

Hi Ezra Pound.

Thanks for the CPU usage info.

I can clear auto.log but it just 'fills up' again even though content sharing is off and

Not running.

On HDR1, contents sharing is also off and no entries are showing in auto.log.

How do I deleted crond.log please?

Thanks prpr.

And thank you af123 for coming up with the fix.

That just leaves, how do I stop auto.log from logging none existent DLNA indexing (see #88 and #91 above)?
