System not waking up for sceduled events

For the last two days my system has failed to wake up automatically for regularly scheduled events though when woken up manually it records scheduled events correctly.

Each afternoon it is scheduled to record Fifteen to One at 14:10 and Countdown at 15:10 but on neither day has it woken up for 15-2-1 and I have manually turned it on just before Countdown which has then recorded normally and I have recorded 15-2-1 on 4+1

What can I do to turn the systems alarm clock back on again!

To annotate the log:
  • 04:17 Yesterday it woke normally for Diasble OTA
  • 08:35 I switched the unit to a different power socket (In prep for decorators arriving) this caused a reboot - system accessible via webif showing as Standby
  • 13:55 System did not wake up for scheduled event
  • 15:05 I noticed 15-2-1 hadn't recorded and rebooted by switching plug socket off & on (box was under dust sheet) and Countdown started recording automatically,
  • Other recordings as per normal
  • 22:40 Turned Humax off with remote control
  • 04:17, 13:55 System did not wake up for scheduled event
  • 15:08 I noticed 15-2-1 hadn't recorded and rebooted with front panel button and Countdown started recording automatically

Since I had a quiet hour I rebooted the system using the webif and then turned it off again to see if it would wake up to record The Chase (yes we do watch a lot of quiz shows) and this time it did :)

Who knows what went wrong earlier, perhaps it just doesn't like Sandi Tosvig, but I shall watch carefully tomorrow to see if it behaves,

After a power cycle, it's usually necessary to wake it up and put it into standby again using the remote control in order to restore the settings in the front panel. I suspect that's what didn't happen here.

Like many things Humax it is probably a bit more complex.

I haven't noticed the problem before when rebooting with the power switch following a system or hang or following a power outage, other users have recommended using a time switch to force a regular restart to clear any hangs that might occur whilst leaving the system unattended on vacation.

FWIW I was recording the R4X re-run of the Book at Bedtime reading of On Her Majesty's Stationery Office and decided to leave the relevant HDR in standby to avoid the risk of a system freeze during the run. At the end of the broadcasts I went to retrieve the recordings and it was just sitting there... "Startup Fail". I got 8 out of the 10.

You must be running a beta version of the CFW on that one...

The Startup Fail message was disabled in the final build (well builds 2716 onwards)

Today the decorators unplugged the Humax whilst papering around the socket and this time the Humax recovered fine and recorded as expected (but the router didn't recover and had to be rebooted manually)

Who knows why it went wrong on Monday/ Tuesday - the mysteries of modern electronics
