Taking Humax off the Network

Hi all,

I no longer need to use remote scheduling or (probably) have my Humax on my LAN.

Do I need to do anything in the customised firmware settings or can I just pull the LAN cable?

Thanks!

What do you use your Humax for?
Do you ever use the webif to schedule recordings or manage existing recordings?
You should probably uninstall the remote scheduling and auto-update packages first so they aren't wasting time trying to talk the servers but not real problem if you don't

Unless you have a need for the router port or are moving router and humax further apart I would leave connected so that it less hassle when you do need to access the webif next.

You can just disconnect the LAN, but then you'll not have access to the WebIF either.

You might want to stop (uninstall) any CF services which routinely try to "phone home" or monitor network traffic: rs*, auto-update*, tunefix-update*, network-shares-automount, transmission*, ntpclient*, inadyn*, dlna-filter, zeroconf come to mind (packages marked * interact with the Internet rather than just your home network).

If you're going to take it off the network entirely, you might as well remove the whole CF and go back to standard (ugh).

Thanks. I might try uninstalling those soon.

I rarely watch terrestrial TV now.

I've currently only got the Handmaid's Tale on Ch4 scheduled and a load of films on the Humax recorded going back about 2 years back, which I never seem to get around to watching...

I could watch Handmaid's tale on Amazon Prime if I wanted (maybe with adverts though). I don't extract recordings anymore.

Use IPlayer on my TV, and other catch up services mainly.

Don't even use WebIF these days.

Thanks for the detailed info!

Yes,you are right I could go back to standard now at this point.
And maybe even finally discontinue the Humax eventually.
I've had an amazing amount of use from this device through the years!
