Tests/Checks for 2nd Hand Purchase

As my recording and viewing is centred so much around the HDR Fox-T2 I've just bought a used machine off ebay to have as a backup.

I'm intending revert the machine to the factory default, update the firmware, install the CF, etc - but are there sensible checks I can do to on the machine to satisfy myself it is in full working order?
