The Godfather - Film4 recorded short (137min of 215min)

Recorded Film4's The Godfather (1972) last night.

The recording looked OK but somewhat small for such a long SD film at 2.64GiB....then I noticed is says 137 minutes (scheduled 215).
The recoding ended early about 20 seconds after its 5th ad-break, otherwise the recording looks okay and processed the ad-detection normally.
I can't seen any log showing any anomaly.

Anyone else have this as well or any ideas why this would occur?

I'll see what happens to tonight's "The Godfather Part II" on Film4 at 21:00-01:00 (4 hours/240min).

Probably broadcaster induced. I have a (partially written) tool to log this stuff. I can tell you what happened on BBC ONE SD for yesterday and today, but nothing else (you get swamped with too much data when debugging!).
I'll try de-filtering it later to see what happens tonight.

Did the recording have a failed incomplete recording status and lightning bolt thumbnail or did the recording show as OK?
Sometimes detectads can crash mid recording but it that case you would expect to have the full original recording available

OK, as your implying it's not ditectly Humax/CF related.
Correct. Presuming you're not post-processing the recording in some way, the recording itself isn't handled by the custom firmware at all.

If you read the information I've linked, you'll see there are well-known issues with relying on the broadcaster to tell the recorder when to start and stop! Apart from the potential for deliberate sabotage from vested interests, there are accidents and ineptitude.

No errors. My Humax has a UPS inline. No other errors with another recording at same time The Godfather ended (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, BBC1 HD, 22:41-00:48).

I'll record it again on Mon 06 Mar 2023 21:00 and I'll also record it on another Humax but with AR set to off for its schedule.

Discussion of broadcaster performance isn't usually conducted in the HDR-FOX-specific section of the forum (because it isn't specific to HDR-FOX). See the Freeview and Free-to-Air sections.
I've created the same thread already under the forum: "Free-to-air Discussions".
However the original one has now been moved (but over written my edited re-posting (I thought I'd now best say what recorder I was using, etc).

In future, is there a way for me to move my thread from one forum to another?
(short of me reposting and deleting the old one!)

You can report your thread, and request that you would like it to be moved, then a member of staff will move it for you.

Has Film4 started scheduling [over-]long movies as two-part programmes, with an intermission, as some of the other channels do with all movies? 137 minutes is close to half the expected lengthy length.

The humax should be able to cope with such split recordings by automatically scheduling recording for both halves but it is quite possible that Film4 messed up an failed to include the split recording indicator (#01) into the programmes CRID

However none of the other showings of the Godfather series on Film4 are scheduled as split recordings (it would be nice if the display showed duration)

I’ve not seen, or at least noticed this… yet.
5Start and “GREAT! movies action” do this routinely. I used to join them although I have been able to 'join' them at recording by editing its recording schedule to manual start-stop via the remote control its connected TV-Humax GUI. Although you’ll loose AR.
That said I avoid recording these channels (and others) due to the awful DoG's and even in programme advertising.
It's a shame BBC3 and BBC4 use DoG's. Channel 4 seem to be changing theirs recently and can be different from am to evening. Sometime its HD channel shows 4HD, sometime just 4. I wish all DoG's be gone.

And last nights The Godfather Part II, started recording ~12min late at 21:12.
Well done state-owned Channel Four Television Corporation!

Nothing amiss there. Will keep monitoring.

Your tool looks very interesting, to make it easier to spot problems it might be useful to compare the start/end times with the epg scheduled times and report the delta difference highlighting those entries that are more than five minutes different from the scheduled time or where the duration is more than 5 minutes difference from the epg,

Out of curiosity I have set my Aura to record tonight's Godfather 3, I may be the only person here who has never seen 1 & 2.

I just checked and it started recording at the Paramount logo and stopped 6 minutes after the closing titles. 3h 9m
