I don't see what's wrong with telnet for this application. I've yet to use the webshell interface, indeed I don't even know how to get into it.
Code it then. Now that disk tests can ne run without going into Maintenance mode it would be very nice if options to run Short, Long and Check were added to the webif Disk diagnostics page so that the tests could be initiated directly from the webif without needing to go into the webshell command line interface.
You either install the webshell package and use the nice icon labelled "Command Line" on the Diagnostics page, or you just connect to port 88, as has been mentioned before and which you complained about not knowing about.I've yet to use the webshell interface, indeed I don't even know how to get into it.
I assumed it was part of the standard webif and there was some button I hadn't found yet. Yes I remember port 88 now.You either install the webshell package and use the nice icon labelled "Command Line" on the Diagnostics page, or you just connect to port 88, as has been mentioned before and which you complained about not knowing about.
Having to fire up a Telnet console is an unnecessary hurdle, and unfamiliar to the novice. With the webshell package installed, it's just a click away.I don't see what's wrong with telnet for this application.
I use Mocha Telnet app on my iPad. As for novices, anyone put off by using telnet is likely to be put off using the menu anyway surely?Having to fire up a Telnet console is an unnecessary hurdle, and unfamiliar to the novice.
£5.99 will buy a pint of beer if you're lucky. I paid it once about 10 years ago, it's irrelevant. I've changed iPad twice in that time but never had to pay again.£5.99 when it could be free through Safari? Just how much Telnetting do you do??
It's irrelevant to you. There's no need for it for anyone else.it's irrelevant
I'll add it to the overlong to do list that still includes doing something about the note you sent me before Christmas!Code it then.
Probably most of the hassle is working out whether a test is already running to prevent users doing stupid things.
Don't worry. I've just done it - it was on my list too.I'll add it to the overlong to do list
I've forgotten what it was now, without checking (I wasn't sure whether you were purposely ignoring me!).that still includes doing something about the note you sent me before Christmas!![]()
It does, but it makes the UI inconsistent and it's generally horrid to do stuff like that.I haven't tried submitting concurrent tests, I suspect it would just reject them with a message.
