Too good to be true: new and used FVP-4000T on sale

Luke

There has been a spat of new and used FVP-4000Ts on sale for £13 to £43 on ebay.

What could be going on?

The ones I am refferring to are the ones with a sale location of China. The descriptions are as if the item is in the UK. The sellers IDs are all different and none have a pedigree.

Last letter on description is a lowercase letter as if these are generated by a computer program going through the alphabet to make each posting unique.

Usernames are all 3 characters followed by a long number so also computer generated

Plus, they are not used in China, so why sell them as coming from China? The bad grammar suggests a scammer in the uk giving a China address so delivery will be a long time. Long enough to take the money and run.

Translation of the Chinese indicates they are from Shenyang, China

I think poster is from China

There does seem to be an influx of Chinese listings on eBay of late. I recently came across some listings for new WD Red 4TB HDD's at ridiculous prices. If it sounds too good to be true...

I found item description quite amusing!
At a guess moving to a valley in China would cause an issue with freeview reception. I'll add it to my to do list.:D

The descriptions do appear a bit random. One of them states that it is an auction only item and that they would not consider any 'buy now' queries. The item is listed as 'buy now'!

So far I haven't found any feed back to these China sourced PVR sales. Curiosity has got the better of me so I've 'bought' one!
