Too much of a coincidence

I upgraded a working unit to 2Gb - been meaning to do it for a while. To be tidy, I did a factory reset after swapping the HDs, let it find channels and then installed the latest custom FW. On restarting it claimed signal too weak on all channels (that I tried). Eliminating the aerial by plugging it where another unit completes its thumb twiddling and recording fine - it still failed to tune.
Assuming the tuner happened to die, I labelled the unit appropriately and got another spare off the shelf. Repeating the procedure produced exactly the same result. Either the HD (only physical common factor) is the problem or there is an issue with the version of the custom SW I'm using - HDR_FOX_T2_1.02.20_mod_3.13.zip

I will refit the old HD and post the result

It's definitely not the disk.
Why are you using 1.02.20 instead of 1.03.12 and what did the working unit have on it before?
Depending on the age of the motherboard, it may require the later firmware version to work.

And b=bits, B=bytes.

ah that may be the problem. Don't know vn before - I just went to the custom FW instruction page and got it from the link there. I'll try and find the vn you mentioned

Many thanks for the speed of reply!

I see the problem - all files have the same date and I assumed from q glance they were just mirrors. Grabbed an oldie
Nope. That is why it states
"If you're unsure about which version to use, have a look at the which version page for help."

Also you must have had one of the 1.03.12 installed before as the other two can read/write to correctly formatted 2TB disks but can't correctly format them using just the Humax's GUI format function.

From your username I thought that you were deliberately installing a 1.02.20 even though last year must have had 1.03.12 installed.

Because they were all built on the same date, using different versions of the Humax software.

I guess the name fits for a reason.

why are they all the same date?
Why shouldn't they be the same date?

The custom version is 3.13, but (for various reasons) is applied to the back catalogue of Humax versions, so all version 3.13 were all released on the same date. For details of the advantages/disadvantages of which base revision to use, see Things Every... (click) section 1, but in your case the highlight is that 1.2.xx won't work on more recent hardware.

Think before you act.
