Transfer Program schedule from failing HDR-Fox T2 to new machine.

It looks like the tuners on my HDR-Fox T2 are failing. I have a new machine on the way, so I am wondering if there is a way to grab the program schedule off the old machine and load it on the new machine to save having to load all the individual programs.

Perhaps you could try transferring the schedule backup file WebIF makes (either daily or on command), and then restore from it. WebIF >> Scheduled Events >> Backup/Restore

Yeah, that is what I figure should be possible. It is just a case of working out what the appropriate CLI commands are to copy to a USB stick and back on the new box.

Or
Cut and paste the backup from the old box to the new box.

I.e.
  1. Create a backup on the new box
  2. Open that backup in the text editor
  3. Open the backup you want on the old box
  4. Cut and paste the old to the new, and save
  5. Restore from the freshly edited new backup

Oh, good thinking batman ...
Now, if only Evri (shudder) would hurry up and deliver box ...

Sorry, not a well worded question.
I was thinking of the file copy of the backup created in Schedule->Backup/Restore, that can be opened in a text editor.
Had look around under Diagnostics->File Editor but not found anything containing the schedule.

I too am shortly going to swap some T2‘s round and this would save some time.

Hmm, investigating the suggestion further up, it looks like one can use the 'View Backup' button at the bottom of the list, but there doesn't seem to be a way to copy that information into a file on a machine. On this basis I think I am going to be after the same information as Peso, i.e. where do these files reside on the machine.

Some investigative use of directory search is in order methinks.

Could you please tell where I would find the backup?
Looking closer, they are not text files and therefore that suggestion won't work.
Appolgies for me thinking that is was otherwise

The schedule/favourite backups are stored in
/mod/var/backup/

Ah, excellent. Thanks for the pointer. Now to get my file copy to USB instructions correct.

After much trying, and prompts from 'net, I have got the most recent ones copied off. Tomorrows job is to set up new machine.

Many thanks.

They are text files with tab separated fields and can be opened with a text editor but the file type is not recognized as editable by the webif disgnostics text editor. So the cut and paste suggestion will work but requires a different editor such as the joe package
The copy via USB stick is probably the most straightforward method.

There is also the inbuilt Copy DB to USB, which also includes the tuning information and non-CF settings, (channel.db, rsv.db, and setup.db).

There was on the 2000T. I was never sure that the restore operation actually worked. (Such a long time ago when I last tried). The database files were only of use to me for educational purposes.

Ah, that would have helped. However I have now successfully restored the schedule backup onto the new machine.
Next step is to get RS all connected.
Thanks everyone for the help.
