Transfer recordings to HDR-FOX T2?

Hi

Going to pick up my new 1Tb HDR-FOX T2 tonight. Up to now, I have been a Topfield user, but with no sign of an HD version anytime soon, I've jumped ship!

My question is, is there anyway I can transfer my unwatched recordings from my old Topfield onto my new Humax? I can copy them to my PC and convert to MPEG. If I then copy the converted MPEG files back to the Humax (via FTP), will they be recognised?

Thanks in advance.

These MPG files play fine on my box:

Code:

As an ex Toppy user as well I looked into doing something similar, but to be honest with the slow USB transfer speed of the Toppy to get stuff off it in the first place and then the transcoding involved I decided I couldn't be bothered in the end. I simply left the Toppy connected for a bit longer along with the Humax, watched the recordings and then retired it.

But you wont get ffwd/rew/trick play etc with VOB files

No but you can play and pause and I find that ok for the few vob files I come across.
Many file formats wont allow trick functions but as luke said above - its easy/quick enough to use tsmuxer/av2hdr if you really need them to.

I'm thinking I'll do the same! Does the Toppy still work (to watch previously recorded stuff) if there's no arial cables plugged in?
