Stick the custom firmware on and your Foxsat HDR will become a web server, from which you can transfer files. You will also be able to FTP files off it. See the sub-forum of this one.

not sure what im doing wrong, unpacked the firmware as above, put it on a newly formatted usb pen at route directory, followed instructions from standby, it booted but eventually just went to normal program - checked to see if box could read usb pen and yes it could

I never received an updating message

Try holding in the standby button for about 10 seconds when powering on with the USB drive in the front socket. Some USB drives are problematic. I have a 1Gb and 2Gb drive, same manufacturer, and one works but the other doesn't. The drive must be formatted as Fat32. The latest firmware is at

Edit: Try

instead.

The updating message should appear on-screen and on the LED window as counters gradually increasing. You can't miss it.
Forum mod: Can this be moved to the subforum?

And note you need to be logged in to 4shared (a dummy email will do).

Oh yes! Bummer! No option to just wait 30 seconds, you have to have a Facebook/Twitter/Google+/etc login! I long ago abandoned "social media". (Present forum excepted, of course!) I even have AdBlock+ set up to remove their silly annoying buttons.
