Tuner woes

Is there a known hardware problem with the tuner in the Hummy ? I have a model with the older tuner (side by side sockets) and since the retune for the channel changes a few weeks ago the tuner seems to be playing up.

The "Signal Detection" utility shows 100% quality on all the RF channels in use (Crystal Palace, so 22,23,25,26,28,30, and 35) but when the unit has only just been switched on all the TV channels report "nothing being broadcast". Seems to take the tuner some minutes to "warm up", and then the TV channels are mostly OK.

2 TVs and another PVR in the house, on the same aerial, are all OK. The aerial is in the loft, and hasn't moved.

All a bit of a mystery, so I suspect the Hummy hardware has developed a fault.

Yes.

Next time it happens immediately try an instant record on a channel on another mux and then switch back to the channel that was playing up. If that channel then does not play up despite the unit not being on long enough to warm up then it is probably the same issue.

I wouldn't so much call it a "known hardware problem" as a common mode of failure. Hardware problem implies a design defect.

Now I'm confused...
The "Signal Detection" readings on all 7 muxes here are similar whether the TV channels are working on not. The "Hidden Menu" version of "Signal Detection" give the same readings on Tuner 1 and Tuner 2.
Pulling the serial plug makes the signal readings drop to 0/0, putting the aerial plug back in brings the signal readings back. So signal detection looks to be in real time.

Power the Humax up, do an instant recording on London Live (channel 8) even though the screen says "no programmes being broadcast". Change channel to ITV2 (channel 6) and do an instant record - again with "no programmes being broadcast" on the screen.. Switch between the two channels - both say "no programmes being broadcast". So tuner 1 and tuner 2 are performing the same way.

On a whim, go to "Media" to see if the instant recordings are happening. And, amazingly, both the recordings are working fine - even though the Humax is claiming the channels aren't working.

Struggling to work out whar's happening. I think the tuners must be OK, something else isn't.

This behaviour started after a retune, and reading the other threads this seems a common trigger for the problem.
