The splitting of a film by news or FYI Daily (or whatever) is nothing to do with the hard drive, it will have happened (under the relevant circumstances) whether you recall it or not (or maybe you simply never recorded a split movie before).

As with most things implemented through the Custom Firmware Web Interface (WebIF), once the right packages are installed it's pretty much point-and-click.

Hi BH, many thanks for your comments and the homework reading :)

however, the fact that I am sometimes able to change to certain channels and not others while recording would kinda verify what you have related.
You can sometimes get 'wrongly-but-not' blocked as well. If you use the P+/P- buttons to move between channels, then if one between the current one and your destination is off limits because of the mux situation, it will say you can't. If you go to the list or guide and select the one you want directly you can actually go there - provided it also isn't off limits.
IIRC in the list the channels are greyed out if they are off limits, but not in the guide.

While in normal TV press 'OK' to get the list of services - you can scroll up and down to pick another from those that are not greyed out.
