I'm sure you're right. Mainly in the sense of "I should have got on with doing it ages ago" (story of my life...). However, the sneaky timing is at the limit of acceptable behaviour from an inanimate object - note how it didn't fail to record, play, and delete until yesterday, a day after the "HDD needs formatting" message first appeared.
Still, at least I it will mean I don't come back off holiday thinking: "why did I record all that stuff while I was away? I'll never have time to watch it."
