Hmmm.

You don't hesitate to upbraid me and others for giving too little information and here you are.
Hey, if you think you can manage without my help, I can always blank you (I'm sorely tempted, and not for the first time). At least I acknowledge my mistakes... what about you?

Something like 1970 the last time I looked, say about a week ago.

No biggie, I have now manually deleted them. It just surprised me that they were still there after the allocated time.
The allocated time of 7 days had yet to be reached. There would have been another 24 years 5 days before the comparison of what time your Humax thought it was and the deletion time reached 7 days.

If it had been the other was round and a recoding is deleted when the Humax thinks it is 1971, and then the Humax date gets corrected, then those recordings just sent to the deletion folder will be removed on the next reboot.

Makes sense

More like 54 years from 1971!
As mentioned before install ntpclient if you are planning to run without an aerial connection, PC or router can act as ntp server if needed,

Makes no sense. The OP unplugged the HDR-FOX to rest it. That's not a sustainable situation, and in the mean time contents of the recycle bin can simply be deleted manually (if necessary, but as the unit can't record while unplugged there is no need to free up disk space). It's all a storm in a tea cup.

ntpclient was useful to use the HDR-FOX as an iPlayer client (without aerial), but that is no longer an option so the only reason to have it is if you want the system clock to keep more accurate time.
