VHS tapes to DVD

Hi

I need to transfer some VHS recordings to DVD, what do you use to do this?

I can input them to my PC, but which is the better format .avi .wmv or mp4 ?

Will edit in VideoReDo.

I use my Panasonic VHS/DVD/HDD Recorder, this makes it quite easy to do.
I copy the VHS to the HDD, edit it as required, then burn it to DVD.
If I need more precise editing, I copy to HDD, then burn to a Rewriteable DVD, place DVD in PC and edit using VideoReDo, and finally burn to DVD-R.
