View Handset results without a tv

We only have one tv in the house which is in constant use by you know who. There appear to be some operations, like copy to usb, which can only be done using the remote. Is there any way to see what would be showing on the TV?

you can copy to usb or network drive using the webif.

you cannot see what is shown on the tv as a result of using the remote (there were some experimants earlier in the year but as yet nothing usable)

I tried using webif, but maybe not the right way. I can see [ÙSB Storage] and can supposedly copy to there, but that doesnt seem to be the FAT part of the usb, i.e. not visible to Windows thereafter.

I wish now I had explained what I wanted to to do and asked for Forum advice before starting. Would have save me not hours but days of time.

The 5000t looks very good from the normal end-user point of view (eg has 3 tuners & remote scheduling), but the CF puts the HDR into a different league for advanced users - or for downloading.

See Things Every... (click) section 12, and note that the CF package ntfs-3g confers the ability to read/write NTFS.
