Watch recording without setting up

I have bought a Humax box to use in my motorhome, when I turn it on (it is not left on standby) I have to go through the installation and signal finding procedure before I can watch any recorded programs. Do I have to do this or is there a way around it?

Mine isn't connected to a satellite dish and I can watch recordings on it. Mind you, it is left in standby.
 
The same is true of HD-FOX and HDR-FOX - you need to connect an aerial during initial configuration, even if it doesn't have an aerial ever after. A user-induced factory reset will result in having to do it again (and very occasionally a self-induced one, for which we have no explanation).
