Nothing that can't be overcome, and rare (people who have no problem don't post).

Minuscule bordering on inconceivable.

Is it necessary to backup existing recordings?

No.

At the time of writing, installing the latest CF 2.20 for 1.02.32 will update your standard firmware to 1.02.32 as a consequence.
