What are dangers of installing Custom Firmware?

Some threads have mentioned problems while installing custom firmware.

What are chances that normal use of Humax will be lost?

Is it necessary to backup existing recordings?

(I have a HDR-FOX T2 with existing software version "FHTCP 1.02.28.)

Nothing that can't be overcome, and rare (people who have no problem don't post).

At the time of writing, installing the latest CF 2.20 for 1.02.32 will update your standard firmware to 1.02.32 as a consequence.
