Why does the episode blurb and number disappear?

Presumably because the broadcaster hasn't provided the metadata.

Nope. The episode blurb and number was there (so it DID exist) for a second, but then changes. Never noticed this before so I guess it must be a bug.
My guess is cached data. EPGs often take a while to fully populate.
So in this case perhaps the data had been present before and was cached, but this time the data wasn't yet present in the EPG. When first viewed the cached data is displayed for speed but after a couple of seconds is replaced by the - currently less detailed - live data.

It might be connected to problem I have where no EPG data is displayed on a some screens similar to that in #1. Furthermore, as part of a series link I'd expect the timer icon to show in the left hand column for the next episode. Sometimes it doesn't. Click on it and you get an invitation to cancel the series link. Probably another bug. So far the episode does seem to record. A workaround (for my own peace of mind) is to click to cancel the link and then redo the series link. Hey presto! The timer icon now appears as if by magic.
