HDD upgrade to 1Tb on a BT Youview 2xxx

Thanks. Sounds promising. I think the critical part is whether it is able to fill and properly utilise the extra space, so if you wouldn't mind reporting back then that would be great. Seems strange this is the only place I have seen discussion on this as 500gb is nothing, I thought everyone...

HDD upgrade to 1Tb on a BT Youview 2xxx

Have we got full confirmation that this works and actually uses the extra space yet? I have 1Tb in my old Humax box and going back to 500Gb would be a real backwards step. Thanks

    Automating rsync backups

Thanks again, I'll amend the correct hosts file as it will be easier than using IP address in the long run. Not so bothered about the aliases as its up and running so shouldn't be changing it again. Thanks again though, I was about to waste a lot of time thinking it was an ssh protocol...

    Automating rsync backups

Right, ignore the above posts about it hanging. The humax box timed out as I was doing this so I restarted. What I didn't realise was it clears /dev/hosts on bootup, so it couldn't find my server - hence the hang. I'm not using IP address instead of hostname Running the ssh -i has finally...

    Automating rsync backups

P.S. I've gone on and tried the rsync command above, and that hangs also.

    Automating rsync backups

That seems to just hang, even if I take the yes | off the front?

    Automating rsync backups

Thanks. If I do that it gives: Host 'debianlinux' key accepted unconditionally and then prompts for password. If I enter it then the command works. But... the known_hosts file is NOT being updated and is still 0 bytes so a) the connection doesnt work without the password and b) I still get...

    Automating rsync backups

I'm also having trouble with this. I want to rsync from my hummy box to a linux server, running debian. I have got this working from windows to the same server, and all is OK so I know the server setup is OK. What I've done is: Created a user humax on my server. On humax box I've created keys...

    transcode HD recordings

I've got a LG smart TV and also an LG DLNA bluray player. Standard def files stream great to both. But HD files, even decrypted, just dont seem to play. Through the Humax streamer - TV picture is corrupt, Bluray player doesn't even recognize/play the files Through mediatomb - both will play...

    XBMC fast forward/rewind workaround

Thanks Damian, Sounds like you have tried most of what I was going to try anyway. I can confirm XBMC on PC also doesn't allow scanning from hummy built in streamer. Its all a bit frustrating to be honest. I'm open to spending £100 on a decent media client, but it seems such a minefield to know...

    XBMC fast forward/rewind workaround

Yes, I was aware of that. Although it is a hassle I think it would probably worth it assuming it allowed fast forward. I've not done it but I assume it is just a case of setting up an auto decrypt job?

    XBMC fast forward/rewind workaround

As noted from the main Raspberry Pi thread the Humax DLNA server doesn't appear to support fast forward or rewind in XBMC. Is there a workaround for this, perhaps running a samba share on the hummy and connecting directly to that in XBMC, or using the mediatomb server instead? I'll have a go...

    No Audio streaming to PS3

Well thats interesting. Raspberry Pi was my plan A. I have one, but gave up as it didn't work with SD stuff so moved on to plan B. Looks like it now does work with SD recordings so looks like I am back to my original plan after all. Amazing what difference a few weeks makes.

    No Audio streaming to PS3

Thanks, yes I don't doubt the PS3 is the problem. I'm just a little surprised as I'd expect BBC to be a fairly 'standard' standard. If it is something that has just stopped working then maybe the next firmware will address it. If it has been broken for some time then I'll give up on it. For...

    No Audio streaming to PS3

If I use the humax to stream content to a PS3 (not using mediatomb - the default server) I have no sound on High Def recordings.Video is fine though. Standard Def recordings work fine and I have video and audio. Is this a known issue? For info I'm testing with Match of the day on BBC HD...
