Connecting Humax to Router via wifi and wifi extender

I used my foxsat on a homeplug link last year and it was fine. I find wifi extenders a bit temperamental when used a repeaters as they need to work with the router. I set mine up as wired extenders instead. If you do use a fixed IP address, you might want to add it as a reserved IP on the...

Free (or cheap) software you really love

Oh I had the cassette version of Elite on my BBC B, but later got the Disc version. The Atom would have been very slow!

Free (or cheap) software you really love

I should have recommended Oolite a long time ago. I've tried it a few times over the last few years and it's matured into a proper stable version of Elite. Completely free still.

Thank you, that sorted it :)

No default authority data available for this channel

I'm getting this message when trying to remotely set up a recording on BBC 4 HD. I found a post on another web site suggesting a temporary solution using telnet, but I tried this and it had no effect. http://myhumax.org/forum/topic/unable-to-set-recording-remotely Could that solution still...

    Missed recordings

I can't actually figure out which ITV HD region it is. I've cancelled the recording from my schedule and I'll try it on ITV+1.

East Midlands so I think it's on Anglia.

I thought this also, but it's been picking up Corrie without fail!

    Missed recordings

My HDR box has repeatedly failed to record Jeremy Kyle, scheduled on ITV HD at about 9:30am weekdays. There's nothing else to clash with it, and it's not saying there's a conflict. The box would be in standby at the time from the night before. Is there any reason why it would keep on missing...

    Car tax

I personally welcome the changes to the tax disc. At long last we'll be able to pay monthly. Displaying a disc in the window meant nothing. At best it proved they had a coloured piece of paper in the window. Additionally, I don't have to worry about where to display it on my bike. The advice...

    Android Enthusiasts...

I've still got my original moto Xoom. It's been relegated to a bedside gadget as it's heavy compared to modern tablets. I've got a 7" Asus MemoPadHD I picked up in Tesco for about £65 in January, and a Nexus 7 2012 I got mint second hand for £60.

    Rip-offers

I used to groan when supermarkets did a BOGOF offer and I was carrying a rucksack on my bike. Not an issue now, but plain old "half price" is preferable. Now I read all of the price-per-litre details on packs of beer *ahem*

    Anybody Into Programming PICs?

I bought a cheap Arduino Uno clone on ebay for about half the price Maplins sell them. The IDE is very nice and all 'C'.

Free (or cheap) software you really love

Here's a nice company who have remade a few old BBC Micro games for the PC. http://www.ovine.net/retro-remakes/

    Coming up...

Do you skip these bits of programmes too or is it just me? I find it intensely irritating to be shown what will happen after the break and usually fast forward it.
