  No it doesn't. It can save you a bit of money on an already 'cheaper' tariff, and can save you loads if you are on your current suppliers default tariff. As I am on my supplier's cheaper' tariff, although I compare.com etc every year, I can't save much at all, so don't bother switching.

  Could also be co-channel interference, but in my case, it 'blocks' for a few seconds then picture goes altogether with strong signal level but zero 'quality'. Your amp could also be causing marginal tuner overloading. Unlikely to be the tuner or HDD. It's a 'signal thing'.

  Notwithstanding my current practice as detailed in post #22, I previously found that the Treucall "Press 7(or whatever) to get through" worked just fine for me. People who withhold their numbers, such as doctors, know what to do, but auto diallers fail this test. Can't remember what they call it.

  I have a truecall and just let withheld numbers through for the reasons above. Spammers don't seem to use withheld numbers anyway, at least I have never had a spam call for a withheld number.

  The primary problem of not being able to update is, yes. But the underlying sound problem is definitely not. I cannot imagine how a software update would fix it UNLESS there has been a known sound problem that the update addresses, as I'm sure the 'old' software would not give the sound problem...
