You can't use a USB HDD to record to. The message you get is thought to be a bit of redundant code from the HB single tuner boxes that will record to USB. If you disconnect the internal HDD power and data connections You may be able to use the box as a non recording Freesat source.
There is known fault on the G2 boxes that is attributed to failure of a component on the mother board rather than the SATA controller. For a while Humax offered a fix or replacement within the 2yr warranty.
They were even able to return the box with the full recordings intact for a while...
You cannot use a flash memory stick with a HB-1100S. You have to use a usb device with a conventional hard disk. It does not matter what the hard disk is formatted as Your box will need to format itself with to use as a recording disk.
Yes you can change the hard disk in a Humax...
Clearly something dodgy with the File system you have created.
Install the custom firmware as suggested and a few packages you can easily back up the recordings to a USB drive using any file system the PC supports (eg NTFS)., using your home network.
Sorry but if you aren't prepared to...
How large is the USB Device ? What File System does it have on it. How did you format it ? If you right click on it in Windows Explorer and choose properties what does it say. Windows will not format FAT drives larger than 32GB. Unless you use a 3rd part app or use the cmd window.
This is...
There is no problem configuring the external USB drive. It works with FAT32 (max file size is 4GB) and EXT 3. You can copy files from the recording partition, but it's very slow (USB transfers is low priority process for the cpu). . Removing the drive is much much faster especially if...
Probably the simplest way is to remove the HDD. Install the new one in the Foxsat-HDR. Switch on and initialise the new HDD. Once finished. power off the box. re-install the original HDD. Boot the box and connect the new drive to usb in a USB -sata 2 drive cradle to the Foxsat...
I have had a 2TB Seagate pipeline in my FVP-5000T for a long time. You have to open drive clips slightly if you have a smaller model, as the 2TB drive is a bit thicker. I am in fact on my second drive. The first failed after around 2 yrs of hard use. Other than the clips and fuuring out...
What Hassle. Use a phone to photograph your recording schedule. Using the photos it only takes a short time to re-enter. Freesat boxes tune very quickly compared to Freeview ones.
Record some HD - check the recording does not have the enc flag. FTP it to a PC it should playback using a windows media player like VLC. If it plays back the patch works.
As that was the source, I assumed that would be obvious. The Foxsat-HDR has always had a somewhat soft 1080i output (and of course lacks the de-interlacing option and frame doubling option that the G2 boxes have) .
I haven't tried the Foxsat-HDR streamed to the new box with 1080i out...
No streaming from but you can stream Foxsat recordings that have no encryption to a second generation Humax Freesat + box. You will need Raydons convert files to play the primary audio track. The picture is superior this way as it avoids the Humax Video processing.
Are you sure the TV can't record, Most will provide you connect a portable USB HDD to a usb port on the TV. Also this adds pause of live TV. This will restore the missing capability. To get the Humax box to start you need to turn on CEC control on both the TV and the Humax box.
No to 1. Yes to 2.
Amongst others I attempted to read the FS from a early G2 box without success, At some time presumably a software update, made all the individual files including the support files (subtly different to the Foxsat-HDR and the HDR-Fox-T2 ones). available.
