Thank you both very much for your input. I had not considered the effect of the sidecar files. Today I have tried the following:
1) Copy to a USB HDD using Hummy's copy function - file plays with surround sound.
1a) Remove the sidecar files to a different folder (using FileZilla) - file plays...
I copied the file to the PC via ethernet, using FileZilla. The process I always use, but I have never knowingly copied a file with surround sound before.
Yes the decrypted file definitely has full surround sound, but the rear channels disappear after copying to the PC and back without editing.
Hi folks, I am trying to copy a film, recorded from BBC1 HD and decrypted by custom firmwear, to my PC, to trim with Video Redo and archive. The film (decrypted file) plays in full surround sound from the Hummy, but Video Redo tells me that the file I have copied off only has 2 channel audio...
I think I've answered my own question. The spec. sheet on the WD site says:
Power miser
WD Elements external drives with
WD GreenPower Technologyâ„¢
are
designed to save energy. They reduce
internal drive power consumption by up
to 30%, a sleep mode reduces power
during idle times, and a...
Oh yes, it does have a separate power brick. I have been contemplating whether this needs to be switched off when not in use, or whether a USB drive gets put into sleep mode when the Hummy is turned off?
Hi, a big thank you to everyone who replied to my post yesterday. I had been out for the day, and when I got home found my son had googled the problem, found this thread, taken your advice, and sorted it all out for me! :)
I am now copying a load of films off the Hummy onto the new drive. So...
Hi, I've just bought a 1.5TB WD Elements drive from Amazon at just over £50. Looks really good. Formatted it EXT3 on Hummy over USB, took from 4pm until sometime overnight! This morning all seemed well - Data storage menu said 1.5TB with 99% free. However it does not show up as an option under...
Hi Raydon, thanks for your suggestion, you were quite right. I also had an eMail from VRD support yesterday saying they can open the ts I uploaded so try uninstall/reinstall. I found 3 versions on my PC, so uninstalled all then reinstalled the latest beta. All now works fine :)
Very odd...
Hi, has anyone else had trouble opening HD .ts files in Video Redo? I downloaded the free trial of h264 TV suite and edited some HD ts files, decrypted by Foxy, with no problems at all. Very impressed I paid for the upgrade to my old version of VRD, but now I cannot open any HD ts files, not...
Found it:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Stream-your-media-to-devices-and-computers-using-Windows-Media-Player
This is what I did, it just says to start up WMP and "Click Stream, and then click Turn on home media streaming."
This did the trick for streaming my SD films. I don't...
Hi James, Thank you for your reply. Sorry I'm new to networking - how would I know if I am using SMB??
I have the Hummy and PC both connected by ethernet cables to my router. I have the files on the PC in the Video Library with permissions set up to share on LAN. Then I go Media > Storage >...
I have seen a few green screens. It has always been OK if I switch the TV to another input and the back to HDMI again.
The TV generally comes up on HDMI, if we were watching Hummy previously, so I suppose the advice is to let Hummy boot up before switching the TV on.
Hi, can somebody please explain to me what is happening in my PC (Windows 7 Ultimate) when I stream HD (H264 ts) files over my home network to watch on my Hummy?
This always worked fine for SD (mpeg2) but falls over after 1h16m on an HD film, 1h44m on another. Always at the same point, which...
Thanks for your reply, that would explain it. My 9200T would not let you mix padding with auto, so I assumed this would not either. Need to look into that further!
Also I'm confused how my post ended up under Foxsat, was just supposed to be under HDR Fox T2. Will take more care in future...
Does anybody else use their Hummy to record Radio programmes?
We've been very pleased with the new box for TV recordings, never missed the start or end of a programme. However we have it set to record the Archers Omnibus (the wife's a fanatic) every Sunday on Radio 4 and it ALWAYS misses the...
Superb, thank you. So simple to use, and has prompted me to try Filezilla for FTP, another great complement to the HDRFox.
For anyone else setting up Filezilla, note you need to go into settings on the Hummy to set a Manual IP address, to use as Host Name, otherwise it changes each time you...
