Hi, I've been trying to alter my rs email address through the Humax local web interface. It's half worked because i'm getting alerts to my new email address now but i'm unable to log in with the new email address, logging in with the old one gives a logged in but empty interface and when I try a...
Just thought I'd chip in since I was looking at this today. I tried an app called Cloudcaster which lets you cast from Google drive, Dropbox, DLNA etc. The format of the .ts file was not recognised as supported by Chromecast though so it wasn't able to play it. The list of supported formats is...
I also looked at the Rasberry Pi. You can get XMBC for it which works quite well apparently. Should make a great media player and you could stick it to the back of a tv with it being so small.
Cracked it, I've not been able to download through the browser but using an application called Upnp play allowed me to download the file which I was then able to start playing almost immediately.
Did a bit more testing with my tablet. It actually plays the HD content perfectly using hardware acceleration from a file, it's only streaming over DLNA where it won't use acceleration and hence won't play the content smoothly. I'll have to look into DLNA apps and see if there is another way...
Similar to my Ainol Novo7 Elf, I don't think transfer speed is the issue I think it's the decoding. I can get fast speeds to the tablet from speedtest.net well in excess of what is required for HD and I can stream HD no problems to from the Humax to my PC. None of the players i've tried will do...
Playing from the web interface I believe uses a VLC plugin which won't work on Android. You will need to use the built-in DLNA server to stream to a DLNA client - try Skifta, this will then pass the feed to a player such as mx.
This works for me but only for SD as my tablet is just a budget...
I had a quick look at home plugs but most seemed to have 1 port, and be similar price or more expensive than the wireless access point and require a power socket at each end rather than just at the client (not pass-throughs). I tested it out last night and it streamed The Apprentice on IPlayer...
Will probably stick with the hummy over existing wireless usb stick for the moment and then if I need another connection I'll buy a small hub, seems a lot of these extenders only have 1 port.
Oh dear, didn't specifically check for 4 ports and it only has one! Just presumed it would have 4 ports. Will have to decide whether to keep or send back now.
If anyone is interested I bought a little 4 port 300mbps wireless router to use as a wireless hub near the TV and Humax. Will disable the repeater part of the system hopefully to save a bit of power and me getting microwaved because the current routers signal stretches to the end of the street...
Thanks
This is the type of thing I've been looking at and will probably go for, just seems like overkill but I'm not happy paying 60 quid for the dongle when the reviews say the signal strength is poor on it as well.
Thanks for all the replies. Was a bit of a long shot to be honest. Will have a think on homeplugs vs other options. I'm not 100% against them just prefer wireless where I can because of the side effects they can have to others, the legality issue doesn't concern me (if it even exists) because as...
P.S. I'm not aware of another dongle that is supported - unlike the hummy and also I am aware that homeplugs is an option but I prefer to avoid them because of the interference they cause (illegally I believe).
I have purchased a new Sony smart TV so am looking at how to link it to the net. My router is upstairs (moving it not an option as it is Infinity) and the Humax connects via wifi. You can get a Sony wi-fi dongle but it is very expensive and poor for signal from what I have heard. Hence I will...
This looks handy, might use it instead of series filer.
Does it support sub-folders (eg "neilleeds/Top Gear")? If so what is the syntax? A little hint on the page would be useful.
If not, I guess because it's a humax process recording the file it might not be possible to instruct it to use a...
