Black Hole - How do I edit the thread title to correct the title ? I have made a snapshot of the first post to work on (with help)
/df - thanks for the pointer. I will look into it when I next have time. My visitors have arrived.
Black Hole – I thought I had replied with this thread, but I have never claimed to be good at human factors. At work I kept 3 technical authors busy editing my manuals.
/df – Thanks for the feedback. Problem 1 : consider me executed. Problem 2 : did occur with my test cases but did not result...
INDEXING FOR DUMMIES
The HDR-Fox T2 (box) is a very capable media player. If you manage to get a non-native video file onto the box, MOST formats will play, skip and resume. If this is good enough for you then you can stop reading now.
You can see the native files from the "media" button on...
Rewritten 10 March 2020
This program is intended to help Migrate transport stream files from another recoding device to the HDR-FOX T2. If you wish to index native HDR-FOX T2 files then you want sidecar. It is not that Migrate can not index native files, it is that Migrate is (and always will...
FINALY I can release Migrate Vn 0.5! I made the mistake of treating the user guide as though it was a technical spec so had lots of dead ends before achieving the audio processing I desire.
When I started this I believed that I would be bulk processing 1T of 9300T .ts files on a regular basis...
Sorry about the perceived lack of response, “good weather stopped play”.
Thanks for the comment on .zip. In future, if it fits, I will use native zip files.
As far as I am aware, all MPEG2 capable devices can play MPEG1 so I tried it. If you don’t duplicate the the temporal sequence number and...
I must admit I have been sidetracked by Migrate. Some international relatives have recorded onto USB sticks directly from their TVs so that I can watch series before they air in the UK if I visit before that time. I assumed they were all encrypted because they did not play on other TVs (even the...
My last post has been overtaken by events. I have managed to find a copy of ‘H.264 Standard2007.pdf’ entitled ‘ITU-T H.264 (11/2007) Advanced video coding for generic audiovisual services’ hence my latest attachment (again .7z renamed to .zip). It now has MPEG and H264 capabilities. It is Vn0.3...
Does anyone know of a wiki that explains H264 headers ?
Background : I picked up windows Vn2.7 of sidecar and it worked in every environment (hardware and OS) I tried it in. I have not (yet ?) found a version of ffmpeg that was OK with subtitles and worked in every environment, so I wondered...
Sidecar Vn 2.4 Release candidate 1
I am calling it a release candidate because there is testing I have not done.
I have not tested the H264 / MPEG2 switch with an SD H264 file.
I have not tested if core sidecar actually extracts and stores the ms 32 bits of the timestamps in the .ts file.
I...
Watch this space! I am in conversation with prpr and I wish him to peer review sidecar Vn 2.4 before general release so I can be sure I have understood the problem. If I have been human then I am sure he will tell me and I can try again.
** EDIT ** I was looking at what the NTS File Format...
I relented to pressure on ProofOfConceptUnlink and produced an update. On the basis of the proverb “Give a man a fish you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish you feed him for life” I decided to produce this post on sidecar maintenance. I am therefore listing design decisions and assumptions...
Black Hole - I was refereing to ProofOfConceptUnlink which is a tool to reverse the linking process of dynamicly linked linux executables. Without help from others this tool would not be possible. People on stackoverflow have realised who I am and e-mailed me directly. What else do you want to...
andyk - I am violently agreeing with you. Your post was clear. It was me. I am dyslexic but intelligent enough that I was only diagnosed two weeks before my degree’s final exams. What I was trying to explain comes from the way I read. I get the whole page at once and then randomly get words...
I would like to use hrw2hdr in 2 ports of hrwconv, one that can be run from a live linux distro and the other that can be run from windows. Therefore I would like 2 ports. For a live linux distro it needs to be a static linux executable (my problems with sidecar was all to do with it being...
I am attempting to produce an Ubuntu live and Windows version of this utility. I have found suitable ffmpeg and produced sidecar for both environments. I have pulled the hrwconv script from a humax box. It uses "HRW2HDR=/mod/bin/hrw2hdr" but I can not find anything on hrw2hdr using the forum...
I am human so I can make mistakes. I can also suffer from “garbage in, garbage out”. When I first read the comment on the windows version before I reached the end of the sentence …(windows)… I was trying to work out what could be wrong. I have done enough testing to know that the file and...
I have produced some variants of sidecar (including one for Windows). The attachments are .7z files renamed to .zip. The sidecar2 archive does not have the test results in it but does have the variants. The other archive is the tool that makes variants of sidecar possible.
Now I have overcome...
*** EDIT *** Should have been posted in HDR-FOX T2 section, sorry ! *** EDIT ***

Thanks for the point at hrwconv. I found it's discussion and it had the "magic incantation" for FFmpeg (CLI parameters) so I tried remuxing an example file on my PC (1.78 seconds execution time), uploaded it to the HDR-FOX T2 via ftp, and ran sidecar on it (10 minutes 53 seconds execution time)...
