One of the things I always liked about my HDR FOX T2 was the customised software from this forum and the ability to treat it as just another linux pc, logging in and making modifications.
how open are the FVP models? Are you able to log in to the box? Are the "bright young things" working on...
Hi All,
I have had a HDR-FOX T2 for 7 or 8 years now and its always given stirling service. However over the last few months I have started to get issues.
Every now and then the machine will stop responding to the remote. The front standby button also does not respond. A physical switch off/on...
That would certainly give me something far more professional than my early attempts will be but I was reluctant to do that for 2 reasons. Firstly I wouldnt really want to plagiarise someone elses hard work and secondly I think I would learn less that way. I tend to find I learn more by trying to...
af123, do you have any links to guides on Jim or any info at all. I havent come across it in the past and unsurprisingly putting jim into google returns all sorts.
Previously the RS portal was almost perfect for my use. The only hiccup was that I was teaching myself some network setup and configuration and had created a home network which was so secure that the only normal (I'm sure a persistant hacker could find a way) way of accessing my pvr remotely was...
Hi all, I was thinking of a little pet project involving the EPG as well and found this discussion quite interesting. AF123 could you elaborate a little on the rsvsync please?
Will any 3rd party entries in the recording schedule database be over written by the humax when it next attempts to...
Well since the rescan I performed on 19th the box seems to be behaving once more so I guess it was all the changeover shenanigans causing the grief. Thats a relief. Thanks for the help.
Ah brilliant news. Does it keep all the old backups? Or will the latest overwrite older schedules? I think we got fed up last night and didnt bother putting all the recordings we wanted back in.
Yes, I'm hoping that given a day or 2 to get over the DSO flu things will be back to normal. In the meantime I'm getting fed up of re-entering all the series recording into the box. I understand one of the features of the custom software is an ability to back up all programmed recordings and...
Hi all,
I have a Fox-T2 1TB running the customised firmware (1.02.20), I'm located in the london area. In the last few days I've started seeing a few problems (I'm aware of the london DSC currently taking place).
1. Watching live television and every 3 or 4 seconds the picture will black for a...
Ah, good point Black Hole I hadnt thought about that. However after some digging for what is legal I found http://www.streetarticles.com/cyber-law/vpn-in-china-is-it-legal. Seems it isnt illegal and a use such as communicating with a home network wouldnt pose any problems. However it seems its...
Hi All, I havent got around to installing the custom version yet (a job for this week). In the meantime I wondered if the custom code was available to download or read to my remote pc from anywhere? I was interested in taking a look from an educational point of view. (working on teaching myself...
Hi makem,
Regarding the VPN suggestion. Its not exactly SSH. SSH sets up a tunnel onto a machine allowing you to run command prompt commands from that shell window.
A VPN usually involves some small setup on your home networks router to allow something like a PPTP VPN, hard to advise as each...
I think setting up a VPN would answer this use case too as your remote machine would be seen as being on your home network via a secure tunnel. Then just access with your home ip address for the humax (e.g 192.168.x.x).
There is a great wealth of info on the custom abilities, how to add them and what they all do from a PC/DLNA/network point of view which I have found very useful. The one thing that is making me pause before the plunge is that I cant find any information on whether the custom firmware changes...
Thanks all.
Ezra, i did indeed check out the wiki which stopped me from buying the 7612 and I ended up with the usual 7711UAn.
Black Hole, I knew it was a long shot but thought it was worth asking anyone just on the off chance, oh well. The unpowering of the USB makes sense to me. You say WoL is...
Thanks neilleeds. It has just the single feature? I was going to ask if there was any code activating a Wake-On-WLAN ability. However i have just read that the T2 doesnt support Wake-On-LAN either. Oh well.

Good point af123, my SSID is indeed hidden.
