Just an idea, but is it worth monitoring the bandwidth used by the Humax box and graphing similar to CPU usage and disk temperatures?
For example, using ifconfig you get a reading received (RX) and transmitted (TX) bytes for any interface...
humax# ifconfig eth0
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet...
Also, on the TV if you do this...
select a different HDMI port (whether something is connected to it or not, it doesn't matter)
then go back and select the HDMI port the Humax is plugged in to.
Do you get the picture back?
Ahh thanks, I didn't know you could do this. It's a nicer way to achieve the same result. I just didn't like channel 200 as it's in the middle of nowhere in the EPG.
It's a long shot, but I wonder if it's something to do with how the TV communicates during power up of the Humax unit. You could try this setting on your Humax...
Menu -> Settings -> System -> Power Management
Power Saving in Standby = Off
It's a bit annoying, but I prefer to have OTA disabled completely - I don;t want a slow EPG. :-)
To soften the impact, I have the package "poweron-channel" installed and set to channel 101. So each time I power on the box it will default to BBC1 HD. I find this is better than un-installing...
It looks like version 1.03.12 is available from the downloads page on the wiki...
This version was extracted from the last OTA push back in February. Is everyone sure the OTA push next week will be the same version? If so, it's a bit of a non-event since you can apply it whenever you like...
That would be a good idea as I didn't know about this until someone posted it was possible. Had I have been on 1.03.x I would have assumed I need to format it externally using Linux.
Also, I'd clarify the rather alarming statement about WD drives...
I think this is referring to the...
Someone mentioned earlier that humaxtv process spikes to 102%. Does this happen each time you move around the epg?
The only clear link seems to be that more dead events seem to mean slower epg. Is it possible at a low level to compare firmware 1.02.x and 1.03.x? E.g. can you get strace for...
I just put a 2TB disk in mine but I used a Linux boot CD in an old PC to run gparted to get all the partitions and data across. Firmware 1.02.32 only formats to 1TB sadly. My new drive seems to be more quiet than then Seagate Pipeline!
As Black Hole says, the easiest method would be to use a...
I'm going to stay on 1.02.32 until I'm forced to move onto 1.03.x. For recordings I mainly use the EPG so I know I wouldn't be able to tolerate any lag. I also don't use the portal much, except for iPlayer so I'm very happy with my current versions features.
I'm just glad I had the foresight...
Nothing to do with the custom firmware, but I'm reading that people who installed the official 1.03.12 firmware are complaining of a slow epg. Can anyone comment on this? Is it really bad?
Thanks.
One thing I forgot to mention was, why was I looking at this section. With a TSR file, no end time is defined, output from hmt is as follows:
Recording start:1384101537 (Sun Nov 10 16:38:57 2013)
Recording end:4294967295 (Wed Dec 31 23:59:59 1969)
That's one second less than epoch start...
One thing I'd love the HDR T2 to do is stream live TV, however, this doesn't look possible. I came across this thread which has the interesting idea if moving the timeshift TSR files to the "My Video" directory so they could be accessed.
I had a look at this and it seems possible to do this...
You've definitely unplugged the ethernet cable? From what I can remember, wireless doesn't work if you have this plugged in. You could also plug in the wireless dongle, boot up the box, and telnet in. If you run "ifconfig -a" you should see a "wlan0" interface if it has detected the wireless...
Just to add to this. I got an email form Richer Sounds a few days ago offering refurbished HDR Fox T2s for £130. Unfortunately the offer is in-store only and for VIP members. Thought I'd flag it in case someone can take advantage. I don't work for Richer Sounds. Pic attached.
Hi,
Just to add to the list, I picked up a LG wireless dongle (model PW-DN427) for about 7 quid and it seems to work fine...

Hi,
I was just looking at HTML5 video players used by sites such as YouTube. There seems to be quite a few about either completely free or free for non-commercial use.
I was able to use one of these players (LeanBack Player) with the Mongoose webserver on the Humax unit to stream a BBC...
