Not quite sure what you mean? Do you mean hit Record and have it keep recording until you press Stop rather than it stopping at the end of the current programme? If so, I know that you can adjust the end time of Instant Recordings (can't remember how though as I've never done it).

Ah, yes, I remember now. In fact I've posted about this in another thread.
If you are watching the channel being recorded and pause it, the symbol in the Media List is a white 'Play' symbol in a red circle, instead of a red dot in a white circle and when the recording ends it doesn't jump to...
I've posted this here as it happened on my HDR, but it might be a general issue (or not even a PVR issue).
Last night I set Wallander on BBC One HD in the shcedule. According to the synopsis, it is a 3-part series, but the HDR only gave me the option of Record Whole Programme - no Record Whole...
I noticed something else about this last night. If you are watching the channel that is being recorded, it shows a white 'play' symbol (right pointing arrow) in a red circle instead. Also, if you pause the programme, then continue watching, when the recording stops, it no longer jumps to...
My understanding is that the expiry date is stored as metadata in the video file and the iPlayer determines whether you can still watch it or not. Once it's expired IIRC it doesn't get deleted from your disk. If that is the case why should it add any more complexity to the Hummy s/w?
Hmm, the Back button only works for switching back to the previous channel if you change channel by either using the Prog Up/Down buttons or the numeric buttons. If you switch using the EPG then it doesn't work. A bug surely?
To be fair, if there were problems with SkyPlayer that made it unsuitable for release then why delay the 90% of features/functionality that is working? We'd all be a lot more pee'd off if nothing had been released yet, wouldn't we?
