My HDR crashed last night but I have no ideas why. The crash log notes that it crashed, but I knew that. Sorry if this has been covered, but wondered if anyone can give me a pointer as to where to look for the cause?
Thanks
Just got my new RPi online today, the first one was duff, and noticed a very similar thing. Can't remember the exact sequence but I was trying to get the Pi to find a DLNA source via browsing and realised the humax was not online. When I tried to bring it online, it stuck at 'startup' on the...
Yeap, you may well be correct, specially as I'm using the potentially dodgy setting of half awake / standby. I'll do couple of wake / sleep cycles via the physical remote and then a webif reboot to see what happens. Trouble is that if I don't get a chance on Thursday, it'll be January, so anyone...
Thanks, I have a couple of wake ups for that purpose so am not too worried about the scheduling. It's more about why I'm suddenly not getting a wakeup from a reboot. I'll be back on Thursday eve, so time permitting, will try the test of webif rebooting from fully awake via the remote to see if...
That may well be the issue, I'll do some checking if I get a chance later in the week, thanks for the pointer.
The box was half awake / standby via a wake up & 2 sleeps input via RS when I logged in from the other end of the country this morning. I woke the box up fully using the webif remote...
Hi all,
After messing up my hard disk the other day, I reformatted the drive and then upgraded to the latest firmware & CF. For some reason if I reboot from Webif, the box now stays in standby whereas before it almost always restarted and woke up. All packages seem to be working fine. I had a...
Even odder is that my original 500GB disk now does the same thing! There are some problem files that I can't delete after a bit of 'messing around', so I thought the easiest solution would be to reformat after a backup. Existing recordings seem to be fine. The area that I've messed up is in the...
Thanks Ezra, would be good to know just how to get into this mode directly. I know it's the subject of another thread I started - Half Awake Mode (sorry, don't know how to do internal links) - but mention it again as it allows what Shaggy is looking for, access without being fully awake.
Sounds like it may be worth looking into and will try to reproduce it, but maybe not so easy to manage as 1x wake & 2x sleep via RS.
For instance... Would it still make recordings with this problem? Does the box need a reboot to recover?
Seems to be a problem using keys, probably my error as I've never done this before...
1, Used PuttyGen to create new keys, created a 1024 bit dsa key
2, copied the public key from puttygen to /mod/.ssh/authorized_keys
3, tried to log in from putty after using the private key via the 'auth'...
I've changed the SSH userid as recommended in another thread by editing the dropbear passwd & shadow files (/mod/etc/dropbear) , password remains the same as I don't know how to create a different one. I'm wondering if it's possible to have certificate / public key based access instead of...
One benefit from this option, which may well no longer be needed with the new telnet package is that it adds some much needed security from the default no password access to Root. SSH in itself is not particularly secure as there's only one password afaik.
Using Firefox 16.0.2, if I select the disable telnet button and then update settings, I get the 'settings updated / effective next boot' message and indeed this does seem to toggle Telnet off and on. The problem seems to be that if you navigate away from that page to another webif page, then...
I have the timeout set to 5 mins, any less would probably result in more power & wear than leaving it spinning. Unless there's a way to make the system run with much lower disk usage it's probably a non starter. Can't see any point in tracking down disk usage by package when the system itself...
It's Webif Settings for the SSH Package that I'm referring to. Sorry, thought that was clear from the title in the post. Was going to post an image, but unsure how to do so, presumably via the file uploads?
No, it's in the SSH section "Disable telnet server?" buttons with options of 'on/off'. Perhaps I'm on an older version of Webif (am using 10.0-2) and this has been fixed.
