When the Foxsat-HDR finally goes tits up!
When my Foxsat finally gives up (had it since day one) what's the best alternative. Not up with this tech anymore so would be interested to know what you guys would buy now.- fatbloke

Foxsat-HDR refusing to record some channels
I had the same problem after the Euro's finished. The foxsat was getting confused what region it should record. I was told to delete all the channels I didn't need (BBC 1 Scotland BBC1 Wales etc.) and then reset the recording schedule to your region in my case BBC1 London. Then the box knows...- fatbloke

Wow you do know! I love all your number crunching, but how come you still don't know why my picture and others is sharper on 720p? Your very much a two plus two equals four type of person, when something's happening that doesn't add up your lost! So the sky installers dodgy advice to leave it...- fatbloke

Do you know the difference between 1080p and 1080i or more to the point 720p and 1080i. Do you know what the i stands for or what it does. The 1080i picture using the foxat and tv together make the picture on the Samsung a lot sharper than having the foxsat set to 1080i it's as simple as that...- fatbloke

HD picture looks very soft.
The tv has to upscale it's still using 1920 x 1080 pixels but it makes a better job of it than the Humax set at 1080i- fatbloke

New Yes it's 1080p and yes that's exactly what I was told it depends on the tv. It makes no difference with my Sony 40" so it's set at 1080i, but my Samsung 40" is much sharper on 720p. Actually I don't it's on 720p after a friend of mine who works in the business told me a few years ago to try 720p as it's often a lot sharper. So I tried and he was right it's much clearer. Tried 1080i yesterday to see what happened but it was worse so put it back to 720i. It does look a lot...- fatbloke

No problem. I think 500GB is just about perfect as I never got anyway near filling the 1TB drive. The newer box I'm now using downstairs has 500GB and seems just the right size. The original 320GB drive was definitely to small (but fine for my bedroom) as it only gave about 40 hours of recording...- fatbloke

Ever since owning the foxsat-hdr the pictures been a lot sharper than the HD Freeview that's built into my TV. Is HDD failing ? occasional picture problem
Any HHD won't do it must be AV for video so it can cope with constant streaming. Changed mine just last week as the one I installed four years ago (1TB) started playing up. Put the original (320GB) HDD back in and it now works fine so I don't have to buy a new box. I've now swapped this box with...- fatbloke

Red button HD disappeared !
Thanks for that. I recorded Dr Who in 3D on the red button for my nephew on Sunday and he was absolutely thrilled. I just hope it doesn't mean the end of things like that.- fatbloke

Turn on HDR, watch a recording, and after 3 or 4 Min's the picture freezes for about 20 seconds.
Worked out how to cure the problem thank god as nobody on here had a clue. Don't bother with a factory reset, that just erases all the recording schedule but does nothing to cure the problem, most annoying. After watching all the recordings that I really wanted to watch I formatted the hard...- fatbloke

I've had a problem with my Foxsat HDR picture freezing and the box coming up saying poor signal for a few months now while watching a recording. The tv has to upscale it's still using 1920 x 1080 pixels but it makes a better job of it than the Humax set at 1080i- fatbloke
