oh :(, with the extended offline check being successful I thought I had got away without any damage! Does the log indicate some other stuff was bad then?
Phew, extended offline check completed without errors.
I have run fix-disk (windows 7 using unset crlf option) and I think it all ran ok. One question it asked which I was not expecting was 'lost+found not found. Create? ' As everyone needs a lost and found I said Yes!! (is that okay?)
Is...
I guess it depends on the ease of development, frequency of occurrence and the goodwill of someone with the skills to do it!
For someone who hasn't used telnet before I was able to follow the steps others described in the forums and fix my bad sector. I have yet to look at the results of the...
Thanks I will run fix-disk when the long test has run and I can get the box to myself now its doesn't stutter any more :)
Sorry I didn't look for fix-disk in the wiki.
All the things I did came from this other forum post http://hummy.tv/forum/threads/hard-drive-failure.2482/ with a bit of...
'nicely done' - it all down reading and blindly following advice from other postings - so nicely done back at you!
Not sure what fix-disk is. I have re-run the normal humax HDD test and got a pass. Also from telnet did the smartctl --test=short /dev/sda
and smartctl -l selftest /dev/sda thing...
Ok so I have taken the next step dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda2 bs=4096 count=1 seek=113476101
When I have run diskattr again I no have Current_Pending_Sector = 0 and Offline_Uncorrectable = 0
I will see how the playback goes.
Is it possible that it will have affected some recent...
So I think I have to use this forula fsblock = (int)((<problem LBA>-<partition start LBA>)*<sector size>/<fs block size> to get the block
problem LBA 909,913,325
part start 2,104,515
sector size 512
fs block size 4096

Hi
Just back from a weeks holiday so the box has only been recording and not watching at the same time.
I have noticed that my recordings jump and stutter, sometimes if I rewind it will play the same part ok other times it will replay the same part with the same skips. Old recordings I know...
Thanks I see some dodgy coding at work, not everyone looks further than there nose. Memorable one was to find the date from a year ago by taking today's date and subtracting one from the year. Not so good on 29th Feb...
Thanks guys, the bin is down to 2.7GiB now after some manual deletions. Most of the original items in the bin were of large series folders with 40+GiB - the process seemed to slowly chip away at the folders each day. Given it a fighting chance now so I will keep an eye on it :)
I don't have auto-shrink enabled.
I appreciate it would normally not ever be empty but would expect everything deleted for more that 2 days to have gone.
Most of the items have been deleted for days now, it does get rid of a few items each day (around 9GB) but its not clearing them by any...
Guess something is amiss then with my box, I have it set for 1 day in configuration and its been around 160GB to 135GB for quite a few days now. It only reduces very slightly each day.
I can do a manual clear of the bulk if that is supported - thanks.
Hi Guys,
After some advice, as usual
Getting my hummy fresh and have ended up deleting some large series which we never got into.
As a result my [Deleted Items] folder is 135GB (it was 146GB last night).
If I understand correct the box starts to clear the [Deleted Items] when it...
I've not yet had the opportunity to take over the box and instal this but it's got to give added benefit of dynamic DNS and port forwarding.
Very useful though to be able to turn off the Hummy after remote streaming.
Just to confirm that there does appear to an issue with Twonky 7.0.9 running on the same network as the Humax. Since downgrading the Twonky server on my QNAP NAS I have not seen issue with the hummy, phew! Thanks again for advice received - productive as ever :-)
Thanks Ezra and Black hole; will start as suggested.
Interested especially in the comment about the Twonky server.
I do have a NAS which I have recently upgraded the firmware in and as part of that the Twonky server version. Looking back at the dates they do tie in. I found the link to the...
Hi
I have had my 1tb HDR box for just under a year now and over the last week or so has just been doing restarts - they seem to occur (mostly if not always) when the box has recently been turned on out of standby and looking at the media list. This has also occurred when recording in standby and...
