I wonder why the delay varies? Could other Aura users tell us what delay they see between initiating playback of an HD recording and the playback starting (I would define that as the counter on the timeline starting to advance). The make and model of TV would be useful as well.
What I see is a significant pause on HD recordings before playback starts which I would define as picture appearing and the timeline starting to advance, about 3 seconds. So I would say playback hadn't started when I hit the FF button. Do you see a pause? My setup is Aura connected by HDMI to...
Ok I recorded the Monday BBC1 News in HD. Initially I couldn't reproduce the problem because I always wait until the programme starts to play before pressing fast forward or skip buttons. However I can reproduce the problem if I use the fast forward before the programme starts to play.
It is unfortunate that you titled the thread "Skip forward/back not working properly" when your issue seems to be with fast forward.
I deleted the HD recording so I will try and remeber to have another go tomorrow.
OK I recorded todays lunch time BBC1 News in HD on my Aura. I couldn't find any problem with skipping forward or backward. My skip settings are 1 minute forward and 15s back.

"Navigate to:
Freeview Play (the white 'F' button)
Settings cogwheel, on top right of the page
Freeview Play Preference
scroll right down to System Information (just above the two Reset options)
OK
'System Information'...
It has a number of "quirks" (in my opinion because the software development was stopped too soon) that can be irritating, but I use the Aura in preference to the other Humax boxes I own because it is very responsive, will record four programmes at once and has a full set of catch up players.
Thanks. To my eyes that looks fine; to have only 13 reallocated sectors after 13 years is remarkably good. Still worth running fix-disk to see if there are any issues with the file system. In my experience the chances of losing any recordings are very small.
Could you show the lower part of the SMART output which is where the interesting data is to be found please? The fact that the reallocated sector count has increased shows something is happening with the hard rive but the count is very low.
As far as I know the actual Humax source code isn't available, other than when required by open source compliance, but a small number of people have studied the machine code and have an understanding of how some of it works.
